India's ruling party has released its election manifesto three days before polling in the world's largest democracy begins.

New Delhi: Calling the BJP's manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls a "vision document", head of the party's manifesto committee Rajnath Singh on Monday said the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was fully committed on nationalism and zero tolerance towards terrorism.

Modi has made his strong stance on national security a key part of the BJP's election campaign.

Modi's BJP has consistently advocated ending Kashmir's special constitutional status, which prevents outsiders from buying property in the state, arguing that such laws have hindered its integration with the rest of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is widely expected to retain power after a general election that starts on Thursday, though with a much smaller mandate, hit by concerns over a shortage of jobs and weak farm prices. "We will preserve the identity of the states". Kashmiris have been fighting Indian control of the region since 1989.

The Internet has been quick to point the difference between the two BJP manifestos. "We want to fight poverty rather than sit inside air-conditioned rooms".

Surjewala also hit out at the BJP leaders for not taking any questions after releasing the manifesto.

But the model code of conduct has became a joke, said Tarun Kumar, an official of the main opposition Congress party, because NaMO TV, a recently launched television channel that broadcasts Modi's rallies live, as well as promotional material for the ruling party, was still on air, despite complaints.

Responding to the charges, State BJP vice president, Samir Mohanty said, "Promises have been made in the manifesto and we are considering them as "sankalp".

The Congress leader added that while the BJP had promised to bring back Rs 80 lakh crore in black money and deposit Rs 15 lakh in each Indian's bank account, "in reality, Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya looted Rs 1 lakh crore of the taxpayer's money and fled the country right under Modi's nose".

It pledged to simplify the goods and services tax, which disrupted businesses and hurt growth when Modi introduced it in 2017.
