  • People are truly baffled by the way these bagels are sliced

The reason for the backlash?

But not if you live in St. Louis, apparently. On Monday, Alek Krautmann tweeted out a picture of some bagels he bought from Panera Bread that were pre-sliced.

Folks in NY, land of the bagel, also weighed in.

"Thank you for reporting this crime, but we only serve New York City, where this would NEVER happen", he tweeted.

"St. Louis bagels are trash". But the cut did not dissect the bagel into two.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition 2019 releases next week
" Borderlands 3 " was officially confirmed with a splashy trailer during developer Gearbox's annual PAX East talk on Thursday. We were treated to the first trailer for the highly anticipated threequel, which, of course, promises billions of guns.

However, there were a number of people defending the alternative way to slice the baked good.

One user responded to Krautmann with a suggestion for a mouthwatering pairing: A St. Louis-style jelly roll.

The only people who didn't seem to understand what the fuss was about was the Panera bread chain, who had sliced the bagels for Krautmann.

"Today we're eating our cookies St. Louis Style", tweeted Chips Ahoy! on Wednesday, with an animated GIF of someone pouring a glass of milk directly into a tray of cookies. He said the technique was a "St. Louis secret".

Any way you slice it, social media has become the place to debate - even how a person slices his bagel for consumption.
