Bangladesh returned home after the attack and, as New Zealand mourned, Black Caps CEO White acknowledged that it would impact how teams travel in future.

It is understood that the team was on a bus after it had gone to the mosque situated near Hagley Oval where Bangladesh and New Zealand were scheduled to play a One Day International on Saturday. The news conference reportedly ran overtime, causing the cricket team to arrive late to the mosque.

Reports said the team is under lockdown in its dressing room at the stadium from which manager Khaled Mashud has remained in contact with officials from New Zealand Cricket and the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The Bangladeshi national cricket team barely evaded the terror attack in Christchurch on Friday that left at least 49 dead, ESPN reported.

Police charged one person, detained three others, and defused explosive devices in what appeared to be a carefully planned and racist attack. Some of the players wanted to help the distressed woman, but just then they saw a horde of petrified worshippers pouring out of the mosque, some of them covered in blood.

"The militants and terrorists have no religion, country or nation. They can't forget what happened just in front of their eyes", he added.

Bangladesh cricket team forced to flee Christchurch Mosque after shooting incident

Bangladesh, with its hectic efforts, managed to save the country from militancy and terrorism. "I don't think anyone ... in this country, would say that rugby was the most important thing".

Before Friday's attack, New Zealand's deadliest shooting in modern history took place in 1990 in the small town of Aramoana, where a gunman killed 13 people following a dispute with a neighbour. Another player, Mushfiqur Rahim, noted that the team was "extremely lucky" to avoid the tragedy. I would describe it as an unprecedented act of violence, an act that has absolutely no place in New Zealand.

Mohammad Isam, a journalist from ESPNCricinfo, filmed the players as they made their way from the bus to the ground. "For now my thoughts and I'm sure the thoughts of all New Zealanders are with those who have been affected their families".

'I can not describe what is going inside us, what we have seen, ' stand-in skipper Mahmudullah told reporters upon arrival. "They are in bad and severe mental (distress), they're not feeling well". We are offering support to all those within the teams affected by the situation and are continuing to take advice from authorities on the ground'.

Canterbury Cricket chief executive Jeremy Curwin said his organisation had consulted with the players, who were given the opportunity to make their decision whether to play the final game as individuals or collectively.
