In the future, the new file format will be able to be used to create 3D images or for augmented reality photography. In the video department, Android Q will make it easier for apps to figure out the video rendering capabilities of an Android device.

Google has also improved privacy and performance features of Wi-Fi and has also given an option for adaptive Wi-Fi wherein the user can opt for "high performance and low latency".

Now, for the most important question: What does the Q in Android Q stand for?

Once installed, the malicious Simbad SDK phones home and starts embedding itself on the user device to prevent removal, and would start fetching and displaying ads to generate revenue.

If you're an end user, some of this stuff won't be very exciting. Additionally, a new Settings Panel function can be brought up to show certain settings that may be needed by a specific app (e.g., the Settings Pannel for Chrome could show settings for Wi-Fi, mobile data, and airplane mode). There's no need for users to leave an to make adjustments. You can also set a custom wallpaper for the desktop. As part of this feature, apps on the new operating system can send a request for "Dynamic Depth image" which includes a JPEG image along with depth metadata including depth and confidence map stored in an XMP container. In addition to that, apps need to use the system file picker so that users can choose what Download files the app can access. Quite a few apps run in the background collecting your location data when you are not using the app.

Developers will be able to publish targets in the Sharing Shortcuts interface in advance, which allows them to load instantly when launched by a user. This will be a boon for real-time gaming and improved voice calls.

The Android Q beta is officially here primarily for developers to test their applications on.

Concluding months of rumours and speculations, search giant Google has finally unveiled Android Q, the company's next major Android OS version.

In May, Google will be holding its I/O 2019 conference to announce the key features of the Android Q. The successor of Android P comes with a new permission management setup for tracking location that provides users three options for apps to access device's location all the time or allow it while the app is in use or deny.

Official support would be welcome news but, if ChromeOS is anything to go by, Google will have an uphill battle to convince developers to update their apps for this mode.
