As the Wall Street Journal reported last December, federal prosecutors in NY are investigating the inaugural committee over suspicions that a portion of the $107 million it raised was misspent.

In December, the Wall Street Journal reported that federal prosecutors were investigating whether the inaugural committee misspent some of the record $107 million it had raised from donors. The Journal reported that Barrack was not mentioned in the subpoena received by the committee Monday.

The intention, first reported by ABC News, suggests that beyond special counsel Robert Mueller there is continued scrutiny of people connected to President Donald Trump.

At the time of the Journal's report, the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office was in the beginning stages determining whether some of the committee's most prominent donors made substantial contributions "in exchange for access to the incoming Trump administration, policy concessions or to influence official administration positions".

Federal prosecutors in NY issued a subpoena Monday seeking documents from Donald Trump's inaugural committee, furthering a federal inquiry into a fund that has faced mounting scrutiny into how it raised and spent its money.

Trump steps up attacks on Pelosi for opposing border wall funds
The intelligence leaders reached the same assessment the United Nations atomic watchdog agency concluded after 13 inspections. Hammill said Trump had mischaracterized Pelosi's position, since she has proposed ways to secure the border without a wall.

The Times also reported that prosecutors were interested in whether foreigners had circumvented campaign finance restrictions to illegally donate to the committee, and whether employees on the committee were aware of any such donations.

"We have just received a subpoena for documents", the statement said.

A recent ProPublica report suggested that money from the inaugural committee paid the Trump Organization for rooms, meals, and event space at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., for a suspiciously high price.

Foreigners can not contribute money to inaugural committees, political campaigns, and PACs under USA federal law. Barrack told the AP he was not a target of the Mueller investigation, which has been looking into Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
