  • Who represents Venezuela? United Nations international lenders stuck in limbo

The video came as opposition supporters were set to protest nationwide in a bid to keep up the pressure on Maduro after Washington recognized Guaido as the legitimate president and issued potentially crippling sanctions that are likely to further weaken the OPEC nation's struggling oil industry.

Humanitarian aid from an "international coalition" would soon flow into Venezuela, which is facing rampant hunger and medicine shortages, from collection points in Brazil, Colombia and a Caribbean island, Guaido said.

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido says he's respectfully declining offers from the presidents of Mexico and Uruguay to negotiate with President Nicolas Maduro.

Meanwhile, California-based Chevron Corp. said its operations in Venezuela will continue normally for the "foreseeable future" despite newly imposed USA sanctions on Venezuelan state-owned oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA.

Pence told the room filled with Venezeulan exiles that President Trump "asked me to be here to show our unwavering commitment to the good people of Venezuela".

Those assets form a key part of the fierce battle for control of Venezuela's finances between Maduro and Juan Guaido, the National Assembly leader who is trying to install a transitional government with the support of the USA and other countries across the region.

Speaking about Guaido's statements that he had sent messages to Russian Federation asking for support, Peskov denied that Russian Federation has received any message from the opposition leader, adding that Moscow will "study it" when the message comes.

On Thursday, Guaido told Reuters news agency that he had sent communications to both China and Russia - Venezuela's top foreign creditors and who support Maduro in the UN Security Council - saying it would be in their best interests to switch the side they back in Venezuela. There was no immediate response from the Maduro government.

"Maduro now is listening that we have the support of the United States", Parra said.

Similar talks in the past have failed, and opposition leaders have said Maduro uses them to stall for time.

"(U.S. President Donald) Trump is imposing measures because he is the dictator of the world and thinks we are his slaves", said Gregory Carrasquel, 35, at the pro-government rally in Caracas, attended by many public sector workers wearing the trademark red socialist shirts.

Guaido also urged Venezuelans to take to the streets, especially in Caracas, on Saturday for the demonstrations.

Maduro, wearing in a military hat, said he was firmly in control of the Venezuelan armed forces as commander in chief.

"Nicolas Maduro has got big problems".

The 56-year-old was re-elected last May in voting boycotted by the majority of the opposition and dismissed as fraudulent by the United States, European Union and Organization of American States (OAS).

"If the imperialists want a new election, let them wait until 2025".

Stillhart said that the ICRC now brings in its own medical supplies and emergency trauma care to support six hospitals located across the country.

On the other, Maduro, with backing from Russia, China and Turkey, says he will remain for his second six-year term despite accusations of fraud in his re-election last year and the economic meltdown.
