The Lehigh Valley is forecast to receive its next round of winter weather Tuesday, with anywhere between 3 and 6 inches of snow possible across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Accuweather reports that the temperatures are unique, also, in that they are "prolonged", and could last from late Tuesday night through early Thursday morning: "Some locations in the Midwest will be below zero continuously for 48-72 hours". O'Hare had delays of about 50 minutes, while delays were about 15 minutes at Midway.

The wind chill will plunge to minus-30 to minus-40 as far south as IL and northern Indiana. Snow should start Tuesday afternoon, become steady by Tuesday evening, get heavier overnight and end by daybreak Wednesday. Here in Jacksonville we could see a light freeze by midweek but the Midwest will see temperatures plummet more than 30 degrees below freezing.

The National Weather Service Chicago office said there will be a "brutal cold snap coming this week" starting on Wednesday.

Places as far south as Jackson, Mississippi; Birmingham, Alabama; and Chattanooga, Tennessee, may see upwards of an inch of snow.

The slippery driving will continue through Wednesday morning and there is a chance for school delays.

VENEZUELA: Kremlin Beefs Up Security For Maduro
At a Saturday morning rally in Caracas, he said that many diplomats were heeding his calls to stay in place in defiance of Maduro. Nicolas Maduro does not need Russia's protection as he is the constitutional president of Venezuela, Nebenzia told.

The city's Monday afternoon temperatures will stay in the low-20s before dipping back to zero degrees at night, the NWS said.

Some forecasts Monday were calling for temperatures to drop to minus-29 in Chicago, two degrees below its lowest temperature on record, set on January 20, 1985. NWS expects temperature "lows in the -30s and -40s" Wednesday through Thursday.

Even snowplow drivers are having trouble keeping up with conditions Monday.

Hundreds of flights were canceled at two airports in Chicago, a major regional hub and America's third city, in neighboring IL.

Schools and government buildings in Wisconsin and Minnesota were closed Monday as parts of those states braced for nearly a foot of snow. Officials have issued a travel alert for north-central, northeastern and southeastern North Dakota due to snow and blowing snow.

The cold air is riding behind an Arctic front that brought several inches of snow to the same region over the weekend.
